Very clean and friendly place with a good choice of bars and restaurants even late in the season. Very quiet at night which was perfect. no loud music or shouting in the streets. Very easy access to the beach which was cleaned every day. Entering the sea for a swim was easy as there aren't any rocks at the water's edge as there are on so many beaches further north.

We took our dog and he loved the country walks. It was very peaceful and secure. Some good restaurants and interesting boutique shops. Swimming was lovely and safe. A very special, unspoilt resort.

Fabulous Hotel. We will be back.
Fabulous Hotel. We will be back. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Excellent breakfasts and delicious dinners. A truly Lux Experience in beautiful nature and surroundings, amazing room and facilities. Even the detail of having a bottle of sparkly in ice with two glasses in our room awaiting our arrival. Spa treatments superb and well worth the money.
And did I mention the gorgeous pool and jacuzzi experience perched on the side of the hill with amazing sea views and perfect silence?
If you wish to relax and disconnect in nature, yet have all the delights of Cabo de Gata Natural Park in your doorstep you cannot do better than here.

Agua Amarga is a small beautiful village with a long sandy beach cove. It is ideal for a short visit. There are a small number of restaurants and bars in the village whose main speciality is fish. Agua Amarga is unspoilt and very popular in the summer and many visitors moor their boats in the bay. There is a motor home park just outside the village and many apartments to rent in the summer season. The Hotel Family is an excellent hotel to stay in and is 2 minutes from the beach. Out of season Agua Amarga is quiet and tranquil and is ideal for a relaxing stay.

If you're traveling from Almeria by public transportation, make sure you find out the bus schedule. It doesn't pass by frequently. The only bus in the afternoon on a Friday was at 8 pm and the only bus back to Almeria on a Monday morning was at 9:10 am. The bus company you can call is Frahermar.
The hike to Cala de San Pedro has amazing views! It could take 3 to 5 hours from Agua Amarga.

It is a typical Spanish village Like most of the places on this coast there are a number of holiday rental properties We were there in early February which has the advantage of few tourists However people need to be aware that a lot of bars/restaurants in Agua Amarga and other places are closed You can't have it all ways!!
This place is really nice, everything is done with a great taste and it is very peaceful there. Rooms are confortable and our room had a “patio” where we could keep our dogs and there was also a small kitchen (which we used very little but for families it can be very handy). the pool and garden areas are also very nice and it is also easy to go for a walk directly from the property. and it is only a few minutes (by car) from Agua Amarga and its’ main beach. And the breakfast is delicious. with a lot of local specialities.
The hotel was delightful and quite unique. Our room was spacious with a wide, comfy bed. The bathroom was modern with a walk-in shower. We had a little private area outside through patio doors with chairs and a sofa. Breakfast was first-class, many different types of fruit, yoghurt, cheese, ham, fresh juice and coffee. The hotel had several lounge areas, two swimming pools and a jacuzzi. At night they lit lots of candles all around, inside and out. Its a very special place and we enjoyed our stay immensely.
Fabulous, simple but authentic boutique hotel right on the beach and 20 metres from the buzzing plaza of the resort. Superb service from manager and waiting staff. Everyone so friendly and efficient. Super clean hotel. Amazing views of beach and sea from room balcony and the restaurant which is 1 foot from the beach. And a fantastic breakfast which runs till 11.30 whilst you listen to the med waves on the beach. Highly recommended
The location, surrounded with stunning views, within walking distance to Agua Amarga, which has a couple of small supermarkets to buy necessities. The super private pool, terraces and grounds, the house itself, artful and very comfortable with lots of sofas and areas to sit and enjoy, the huge, well equipped kitchen. Just the two of us, and we each had our own bedroom. Slept very well! Great hospitality.
Our stay at Real Agua Amarga was the highlight of our Spain Vacation! The property was lovely, quiet, comfortable and very clean. Aura was always available for questions and she kept in touch with us everyday. The little town was just a walk away and the beach and restaurants we visited where very good. Great hiking close by as well. Would love to go back!!
The breakfast - included in the price - was exceptional! We also had dinner here one night (not included in room price), which was also excellent. The staff were excellent. This is a beautiful location, and the rooms and hotel are very tastefully decorated and maintained. Exceeded expectations!
Atmospheric cortijo with just three units in a peaceful landscaped setting. Amazing pool with views across wild hills. 5 min drive inland from Agua Amarga which is one of the nicer Cabo de Gata towns. Nice that each of the two bedrooms had its own bathroom (Cala de Plomo Suite).
It’s a fantastically beautiful hotel with a very attentive staff. I stayed at the hotel for an anniversary and my fiancé and I got our room upgraded and a complementary champagne. That was simply incredible. The view is something else also and a jacuzzi 🤤
Well equipped and very nice apartment with easy pool access and a roof terrace. Very close to the beach (as everything in Agua Amarga). Nice contact with Ruth who is very helpful!
perfect clean modern hotel. rooms perfect. staff great. a must stay if in the area. free secure parking. If you are looking for a quiet location near a good beach, this is the one
Beautiful! Comfortable! Clean! This was a memorable stay for us. Accommodations were fantastic and the staff was kind, warm and welcoming. We loved staying here!
