Our second time to Caravaca to witness the diaplay and racing of the Caballos de Vino. Splendid day out with the most livliest atmosphere you could ever experience. Old town seems that it needs a little revamping and a clean up as a bit tired looking. That said I would return again. The people of Caravaca are so welcoming and friendly.

We visited for the wine horse fiesta.
We visited for the wine horse fiesta. Fabulous atmosphere but difficult to find somewhere to eat as completely reserved for horse teams. Roads were closed and once we managed to park car we had to walk everywhere.

Lovely smallish town with plenty of great restaurants.
Lovely smallish town with plenty of great restaurants. The church which dominates the skyline is purported to have a relic of the true cross, which can be viewed after mass most days. It is one of the 5 Holy Cities including Rome, Santiago de Compostella and Jerusalem.

Lovely little town with numerous sights to see and narrow streets to discover. We found the castle and museum a worthwhile visit and equally so the Fuenta, a lovely quiet walking area bordering a river. I would have stayed a day longer.
Sadly we found that the restaurants, apart from one, sadly lacking in providing international cuisine. If you want an evening meal then you need to wait until at least 8.30 pm before they open. We have been to many Tapas bars in Spain but alas the dishes provided in Caravaca were very much a local art. One tapas bar named 33 which we visited resulted in us having a stomach ache thereafter.

Went for medieval market which was very good.
Went for medieval market which was very good. Horse wine museum is a must describing the history and annual fiesta at beginning of May. Amazing history - churches, buildings, streets. Didn’t have time to see recommended gardens.

Wander through the old town, wonderful architecture, old doors and cobbled streets. The Basilica is a great climb up through cobbled streets,(quite steep not for the faint hearted!) views are fabulous when you get up there! You can actually drive up if you need too, parking is available at the top. I was able to ´sit in´on the end of a service in the Basilica, the inside is simply beautiful, ornate and the history interesting.
Great Tapas bars, and plentiful restaurants to eat in, lots of places to have a coffee and watch the world go by, including up at the Basilica.
I managed to find the exhibition of this years 12 winners of the embroidered coats from the Wine Horse Run. Absolutely amazing to see the work which has gone in to them.
Everything closes from 2.30pm for a couple of hours so a good chance to have a siesta as the evenings are really buzzing. There was music and a fashion show in the main street when I was there so an early night is not necessarily going to happen!
Thoroughly recommend a visit!

Great location within Caravaca de la Cruz. Beautiful monastery with well maintained gardens, very very friendly staff fabulous breakfast. The monks and fathers who run the property are lovely people and in no way try to evangelise. There is a great souvenir shop a small church and another chapel and lots of history including information on Juan de la Cruz and Teresa de Avila. I thoroughly recommend both Caravaca and this Hotel.
Very nice place full of history, where you can feel the spirit of the convent, as it is still a living monastery and the hotel at the same time. Although it is located in a stricty city centre it has got a huge garden and a private parking lot just in front of the main entrance. And a church nearby. Lovely place to stay. I would like to come back there another time.
Good value for a fairly nice hotel. Spacious rooms and a a person traveling by bicycle they let me take the bike into my room for safekeeping but also offered a secured room. Overall good experience especially considering how isolated this hotel is.
(Take note of the hours of their restaurant!!!)
Excellent location, very large, clean with 2 bathrooms. Large living room and kitchen. All facilities. Very kind host and he even took us to the bus station! We are very pleased and had a very pleasant stay in Caravaca de la Cruz😁
This was a GEM of a find.
The property has been completley refurbished to a high standard, everything was excellent.
The owners look after you personnaly and they are charming
I would recomend the hotel to all.
Recently renovated rooms, clean and tidy, quite spacious. The double bed was comfortable and large (unlike most double beds in Spain). Plenty of free parking in front of the hotel. The price was good.
Excellent location in the old town. Easy access to local sites.Amazing views from the room.
Clean, spacious room with everything you could need for a stay in Caravaca de la Cruz.
Room was clean, good bathroom, plenty of electric points, good WiFi. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Hotel is right in the middle of town on the Grand Via.
