Granada for tourists is more like Barcelona than Sevilla or Cordoba. All the historic plazas are full of outdoor restaurants, many with American style menus. Busy area, just not very charming. Cathedral and Royal Chapel are worth visiting, but can be crowded. I liked the Monastery of St. Jerome and the Basilica of St. John of God much better. The Alhambra and Generalife are impressive but can be crowded. Go later in the day and by 5 or 6 pm they are much more enjoyable. I did not find the Albaicin district to be that great. Big crowds on narrow main streets, constantly dodging cars trying to get by. The side streets, or alleys really, are rather drab and claustrophobic. But the St. Nicholas viewpoint up there is nice for a view of the Alhambra lit up at night.

Granada exceeded our expectations, we visited for the Alhambra but saw so much more. A very pretty city in a very pretty setting with the Sierra Nevada snow covered mountains as a backdrop. Easy to get around, plenty of busses and a useful metro line that takes you to the bus station or the train station. Our only complaint would be the tourist train we found that if you got off you could not get on again half an hour later as it was constantly full. So maybe go the full circuit then chose somewhere to visit and get a bus back.

Loved the Albaicin, the Arab quarter and all the tea shops.
Loved the Albaicin, the Arab quarter and all the tea shops. The Alhambra was fantastic, but even in April packed with tourists and large coach parties, all posing interminably for photos, the same in the Generalife gardens. The Museo de Bellas Artes (inside the Alhambra Palace of Carlos V) was a waste of time - over half the rooms were closed (all the C19th and contemporary paintings) - with no explanation. However the Capella Reale (adjoining the cathedral) was worth a visit, the final room has a superb collection of C15th Flemish art (Bouts, Memlinc, Van der Weyden) and even a Botticelli. One evening we went up to the Mirador de San Nicholas - in the Albaicin opposite the Alhambra - for great views of the towers and watched the lights come on at sunset.

The Alhambra is fabulous!
The Alhambra is fabulous! But book your tickets and tours early. Don't miss Sacromente too - the caves. You don't need to book a tour- just walk up and walk thriugh it yourself. It's fascinating and staff can ask any questions.
Great restaurants and bars- ask your hotel for local recommendations.
It's a hilly city so bring your walking shoes.
Loved Grenada !

The Alhambra is not to be missed.
The Alhambra is not to be missed. We were surprised at how many people went through the palace but not the gardens and Generalize - no one was there! The hillside setting makes Granada rich in views and foot travel. Eating along the many restaurants at the Mirador de San Nicolás is a must and Sacromonte is an easy walk from this point - don't miss it as the views are beautiful and the flamenco is fun!

Granada is an ancient city known for its gateway to the UNESCO heritage site, the Alhambra. Coupled with the oldest neighborhoods that date back to the ravages of the Spanish Inquisition and King Charles and Queen Isabella, Granada is in the brilliant sunshine soaked province of Andalucia. The city itself is dotted with beautiful cathedrals and a fairly large university. The city is a treat for walkers, especially the city center and the old town. The mountains rise all around Granada and the snow capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada are visible in mid March. A town that is well worth visiting with taxicabs that are relatively inexpensive and take credit cards.
Lovely boutique hotel in centre of Granada - hiking distance to old neighbourhood, souk and shopping area. Bus for Alhambra leaves every 10m around the corner. Really spacious rooms, very clean, decorated with attention to detail. Bathroom is very clean and during our stay they had already cleaned the room during our breakfast so as not to bother us the rest of the day . Staff is very friendly and gives loads of tips for what to see, where to eat (even our next destination). Best breakfast I have had ever in a hotel (and i have seen a few)!
location, amenities. easily the nicest place we have stayed in Spain. Very large and comfortable and luxurious. Staff was very responsive when the A/C stopped functioning properly. The only issue was the air conditioner controls stopped working but the weather wasn't that hot so we just turned it off and it was fine. We were right by the gates of the Alhambra and also very close to town so we could walk everywhere. It was great.
Just had one night in Granada and stayed here. Room we had met our expectations and was neat and clean and quiet and room size was as expected and similar to the other rooms we stayed at in Spain. Best room service prices I've ever seen, a coffee was only 1.5euro. This is nice smaller hotel but with an excellent location and lots of restaurants and attractions nearby. Staff was friendly and helpful and I would stay here again
Absolutely loved it! Couldn’t ask for better location—just down the street from the path to Alhambra. Close to many restaurants, shops, flamenco, Tourist Office
Loved my room, huge, felt like I was transported back in time. Best sleep ever. Off the main street so not noisy at night. Great cafe(same owner) just a few doors away for excellent breakfast, lunch, wine. It’s my favourite hotel out of my 3 week stay in Spain
I was lucky to have room 616 which had a large terrace table and umbrella. i was able to have my byo drinks and coffee there every morning before going to the hotels partner cafe for a typical spainish/granada breakfast. The hotel is close to everything Granada has to offer. Super quiet and clean and comfortable. Note there is no fridge or kettle etc as it is a typical basic but smart Spainish hotel.Loved it!
Maribel and the other guy at the reception were the best. She was very kind and very helpful and she went the extra mile to tell us where is nice to visit in Granada. She also recommended the very nice restaurant in the hotel which we used for breakfast during our stay. Maribel is a great valuable part of your team. She is one of the reasons to return to Granada! Thank you! We loved everything.
Hotel Navas.

What a hidden gem this hotel is.!!!
Pedestrian area . Bars , and restaurants all around and squares in minutes.
Very highly recommended! 5 star.!
I was surprised how much I enjoyed my stay. I usually just cone and go from my hotel because I prefer to be out sightseeing, but on our last morning I chove to just stay in the room, stroll down for the delicious breakfast and relaxed some more in the comfortable room before finally checking out. I will definitely look to stay at their other hotels in Spain.
This hotel was a pleasant surprise at our trip around Spain. Nice and clean rooms, very good location in Granada city center, kind staff. At the same street is the public parking and hotel staff even ensured that the city authorities got notice of our cars entrance to the restricted area. Great job.
The girl at the reception was a real charmer, thanks to her we were able to visit the best places in Granada. The apartment is very central, close to everything and with a carrefour just a few steps away. If someday we come back to Spain, we will repeat without hesitation!
Room style is really nice and clean! Room is not small. I like it very much! Location is excellent and there is a kettle and coffee in the room which is something I couldn’t find in most of the other hotels in Spain. I definitely recommend it!
It's my second time visiting Granada. Also the hotel. Glad that I stay here again. Great location, cozy atmosphere and the amazing owner is doing his best for the guests. I will be back again if I'm visiting here for the 3rd time.
This hotel was the epitome of our journey through Spain and Morocco. We wanted accommodation near the station, but we did not expect such a gem near it. It exceeded our highest expectations.
Beautiful boutique hotel right in front of the cathedral. Right in the heart of the city center. Rooms were airy, bright and big for Spain. The staff was magnificent. a great choice!
beautifully reformed Manor House - with a gorgeous internal patio. The breakfast was one of the best we have had in a boutique hotel. The French Toast was to die for…
Lovely boutique hotel, 10 mins walk from central Granada. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, room clean and comfortable with plenty of room for 2 kids.
