Very friendly town. Recommend a guided tour to include the dolmens - we booked a combination tour of walking the town, visiting a chapel and a short ride in a 'micro bus' to the dolmens.
Buy cakes and pastries from a convent. Spend an evening in Bar Lola next to Plaza Coso Viejo for excellent food, friendly service and great atmosphere.
Antequera is an easy 45-minute drive from Málaga airport, so it's a great place to spend a couple of nights before heading off to explore Andalucía. Lots of free parking.

Antequera is a pretty town with a big church and castle. Also, you can visit dolmens (in the town) and El Torcal hiking area (nearby, some 20km maybe). The town seemed cozy during workdays and quite busy on Saturday with many people cruising the streets.

Antequera is a beautiful place with loads of churches and elaborate buildings. I could have done with another day here at least. I also never got to sample the food so I will definitely need to come back.

A cosy town, not too small, not too large.
A cosy town, not too small, not too large. The megalithic burial tomb complex dating back to Neolithic- Bronze Age (Dolmen de Menga, Dolmen de Vieta) is within walking distance from city center. Our main reason to visit Antequera was to see these 5000-6000 years old burial tombs. We loved the city.

A very nice medium sized town with an interesting historic Quarter. Everything clean and nice giving an impression of a caring local population. I think the local council has spent time and money on the historic buildings. The nearby dolmen are also well worth visiting.
Breakfast was good although coffee machine completely inadequate for a hotel. It’s a small domestic one. Need a hotel sized industrial one. Staff spent all their time trying to fix it! Dinner was nice although we were unable to get a window seat although as it was dark views were limited. Daytime views over countryside very good. Walkable into town which is good but with adequate parking on site. Very comfortable bed.
Great location and despite speaking very little English they really did their best to help us and give us details for our visit, friendly and kind. We had a hire car and it was great to be able to book a parking spot in advance and so close to the hotel.
We read the reviews of this Hotel and decided to stay as it was in our budget, so despite it not being 4 star or where we would usually stay we got what we paid for.
The hotel offered all we needed. Over the street from the museum and not an arduous walk up to the citadel. For a great breakfast, it's a short walk to Cafe Santiago. The courtyard in the hotel is a pleasant spot where you will also find a library with some English titles in there if required. The staff were always friendly and helpful.
The location of the hotel is brilliant - on a main street [but quiet] and opposite an attractive square. Lovely rooms - large and well appointed. The nicest hotel receptionist I've come across in a very long time - very friendly and her smile was infectious. I'd really recommend Antequera - off the beaten track but a lovely place.
Rural character hotel, spectacular setting below Torcal Mt and a view over farmland. Competent reception, comfy bed, interesting evening menu, excellent breakfast (included in our tariff). Great fireplace in sitting room. Pool for summer season use, pleasant garden being upgraded.
We liked the furnishings and the ambience of our room. The hotel is located in central Antequera but was only 16-17 minutes walking distance to Dolmen de Menga, a nearly 6000 years old tomb complex. We loved the hot bath after a long day of train ride and sightseeing.
Nice location, balcony with a view to a nearby old church. Friendly staff. Possibility to park a car at the closed parking 100 metres from the hotel. There's a restaurant downstairs which is convenient for a breakfast. Antequera is a city worth visiting.
Beautiful, brand new looking hotel in a very convenient location. Evening staff was wonderful and accommodating. Room was larger than many European hotel rooms and the bathroom was spacious and clean. Free parking was handy and just a short walk away.
We liked the fact the hotel was around an hour away from every city in Andalucía
We also liked how quite it was at all times
the mountain view was amazing
but most importantly: there was a bidet!!
Was near the highway, good for a quick stop (near El Torcal de Antequera)
Nice big room (we took the Deluxe suite) for only a few extra pounds
little fruit seller next to the hotel
Dinner at the hotel was exceptionally good, attention was perfect. Breakfast was quick and satisfying. The town of Antequera is very pretty, located on a hillside.
The hotel staff were helpful and happy. The town is somewhere we will definitely visit again. Lovely place. Great little restaurants and super friendly people.
Everything about Fuente del Sol is perfect. We come back everytime we are in Spain and it is always incredible - the views, food, staff, rooms - everything!
