We were genially welcomed by our host to this large old village house which has been beautifully restored as a small hotel. Our room was large with plenty of drawer and hanging space with a balcony overlooking the large garden and very comfortable beds. The area is quiet and peaceful and we experienced no noise, neither from other rooms nor from traffic.

It was a beautiful place that wasn't too big so not too busy. The pool was lovely. The spa in the room was great. We really enjoyed breakfast. There are some cafes across the road and the main street is only a few minutes away to walk to.

The staff at this small hotel are lovely, very welcoming, very helpful and greeting you with a smile. Restaurant/bar was small and intimate. we had dinner at the hotel and it was excellent, and very well priced. Breakfast was very good also, good selection of pastries, bread, yoghurt, ham and scrambled eggs. Cheese also, but I do not like cheese, so left alone!

The room with the sea view was really amazing. You have a feeling like waking up directly on the beach.

Tonanes is in a great location by the coast, so there are good walks from the village. It is also easy and quick to get to places in the area eg Santillana del Mar (10 minutes), Altamira Caves (15) and Comillas (15). Many great beaches are minutes away. It is easy to get to places further away, such as Santander, by car or - as we did - commuter train (40 minutes) from Puente San Miguel (15 minutes away).
Our primary reason for visiting the area was to go to the Altamira Cave Museum. Trisileja en Puente Romano is a very pleasant, small hotel with character about 15 min away from the tourist zone surrounding the cave site. Our room was simple but comfortable. The breakfast was very good with excellent coffee and fresh lemonade. Alina provided a recommendation of a place about 5 min away for dinner that was very good.
We had a delightful two night stay, the hotel is in a stunning location with a beautiful outlook. We had a family suite with (very generous) terrace which was perfect for our family of four. We made use of the lovely pool. A delicious, typical Spanish breakfast was served on the restaurant terrace. We enjoyed dinner in the hotel on both evenings which was very nice.

Lovely Hotel, friendly staff, good base to explore from. Easy walk to the sea cliffs and the mill. all in all a very friendly relaxed place ideal for recovering from, or preparing for the Ferry, only about 30 mins drive.
The hotel was very lovely. Our patio opened on a large green space and they had a beautiful garden you could relax in. There was also a small playhouse our son loved. The staff was very attentive and polite.
The owners run the hotel and we’re so kind. We arrived after a long Camino day and they were very gracious. They even fixed us breakfast at 0630 the next morning so we could continue our Camino journey.
The hotel is very comfortable, with good rooms, gardens, swimming pool. Staff very attentive and helpful. Good location to access attractions quickly, yet very close to the coast, and quiet
Wonderful character hotel in lovely rural location. Close proximity to the beautiful towns of Santillana de Mar, Comillas, and San Vincente de Barquera. Magnificent coastal scenery.
