Nestled amongst the picture-perfect backdrop of Guadarrama Mountains, Segovia is an architectural and historical gem which blends several charming monuments and landmarks, with a mix of lively bars and restaurants. Segovia is one of Spain’s most beautiful cities.
Segovia is one of Spain’s most beautiful cities. The Alcazar and the Cathedral are stunning, but nothing compares to the first time you see the Roman aqueduct. The only complaint I have is that everything closes after 2 pm and as a tourist you are forced to return to your hotel or wonder around while the town looks like a ghost town. Perhaps they could keep some of the tourist attractions open, so tourists are able to do something while the locals take their siesta.

We stayed two nights, but could have spent at least another day, or two. Take the time to walk around the river path down around the front of the Alcazar for views up, and when you get to the old bridge walk up and over the road and up the stairs to the lookout. Enjoy the traditional the signature dish of Segovia the Roast Suckling Pig (Cochinillo) which is so juicy and tender with crispy skin at one of the wonderful restaurants in old town.
