Nice solid hotel to stay for a night or two and visit Avila, friendly staff, and I have nothing to complain. Visitors can park their cars nearby for free or for an additional fee in the hotel garage. A few steps away from the famous Cuatro Postes viewpoint. Not really far from the city walls if you like to walk.

The location was great and the hotel was historic and authentic. The dining area was a former patio so they were rooms that looked down on it. Very quaint, very nice.

This quiet hotel is only 5 minutes from historic downtown Avila. The staff were welcoming and the rooms very clean. The hotel restaurant gets lively at night. Food was good and coffee great. Indoor parking was very appreciated. The day we arrived we were entertained by a local tradition / spontaneous calle pasada (?) (group of young people pub crawling with marching band instruments). Great energy!

When viewed against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains, Ávila is truly a spectacular sight. Its fully intact walls rise majestically from a hill, and the many semi-circular towers and 9 gates give it added character. Begun in the 11th century, these incredible fortifications are the symbol of this UNESCO World Heritage-listed city.
Partly built into the walls are the rather fortress-like cathedral and the Convent of Saint Teresa, erected in honour of the saint whose childhood was spent in a house on the same spot. Her relics are here, making it a popular pilgrimage spot. The city’s biggest festival is also in her honour and includes a colourful parade, fireworks and fights in the bullring.
Teresa entered the Incarnation Convent in Ávila, but found herself at odds with the practices, so founded a new monastery: the Convent of Saint Joseph. Of the city’s other religious structures, the Royal Monastery of Saint Thomas is particularly of note as it contains the tomb of Don Juan, son of King Fernando.
Other Ávila sights include the Torreón de los Guzmanes - a tower attached to the provincial council headquarters – and the Four Columns monument which offers fabulous city views.
The Ávila accommodation on Booking.com includes boutique hotels, traditional guest houses and cheap apartments near the train station.

Spent three nights at Le Vintage over Palm Sunday weekend and was glad I did. Avila is an historic, walled town and best not rushed through on a day trip from Madrid. Le Vintage was the PERFECT location with my room facing the street so I got to see all of the action/processions on the Saturday before Palm Sunday and then again on Holy Monday.

Impressive walls are surrounding the city and invite for a nice walk.
April seems the right moment to visit it. In summertime it may get very hot. The Sofraga Palacio Hotel is the best option to stay we think.

Avila is quite nice for sightseeing.
Avila is quite nice for sightseeing. My problem is with the food industry. We are vegan and the options for us to eat were poor at best. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. The food represented as vegan to us was very poor quality, even at nicer restauraunts.

Avila got its unesco status because of its fortress wall and well deserved too. Wish we could walk on its parapet/battlement all the way round.
We ate all our meals at restaurants inside the wall like a lot of other tourists. If you can find fartons for breakfast, they are incredibly cheap and deliciously fresh.
I wish we were better informed by the tourist information centre (on same site as our hotel) about the Heullas Teresa de Jesus pilgrimage and be given a booklet to be stamped for our visit (as like for camino).
The view out of the window over the sunshine on the stone walls of the Cathedral from a comfortable easy chair was an amazing bonus, while the hotel itself is one of the historic buildings of central Avila so you feel as if you are living right in the midst of the history. The lobby and lounges gave a sense of luxury, style and interest. Avila is obviously a fascinating place in its own right.
The breakfast was superb, with many delightful local touches and some real novelties.
This hotel is perfectly located footsteps from one of the entrances of the famous Wall towards the Casco Histórico of Ávila city, which makes it incredible comfortable to access all the touristic attractions in the old part of city. The front desk lady was beyond kind and friendly and gave me all directions as I asked. I thought I would check in with an automatic machine, so it was a good surprise to have a warm human welcome!
Superb staff gave us a warm welcome on a cold windy day in the walled city of Ávila. Hotel has lots of character and provenance. The sense of history is everywhere - none less so than this hotel which was once home to Spain's first democratic president. We were given a free upgrade and the room was delightful in every respect. Breakfast was especially nice. Full marks ... Enhorabuena !
Room was a triple room while I booked for a single. But double beds in Spain are small--maybe 140cm wide. That was nice for me. I liked the friendly staff but they spoke no English at all.
Parking 'on property' was 10 euros for the day, and it was their own parking space across the alley, underground.
Location is excellent as it's 100m away from the entrance of the city wall.
We had a great time in Avila. It’s a pleasure to stay in Hotel Puerta da la Santa. The room is sparking clean. The stuffs are really welcoming people. The beds are comfortable. Location is prefect. It is just in front of the wall. If you are driving, it’s very easy to find a parking slot. We would like to repeat if we visit Avila again. Highly recommend!
We really enjoyed our stay. Room very comfortable, the building has been very sympathetically restored, excellent breakfast, particularly liked that it was table service. Avila itself is a lovely town - wish we had longer to explore but just a one night stay en route to the Santander/Plymouth ferry. Definitely a hotel we would return to.
This lovely hideaway in the hills outside of the scenic city of Avila, Spain is a fantastic value for the outstanding service. Just minutes by car from several historic buildings. the hotel itself is next to an ancient church. The attached restaurant to the hotel serves gourmet meals in a casual atmosphere.
Benedicto made us feel extremely welcome right from the start, from allowing us an early check-in, then explaining everything we needed to know about Ávila. His recommendations were spot on! Property was lovely and clean, and had everything we needed. Location is perfect, right in the center of Ávila.
The best location in Avila! The Avila walls right outside the front door, lots of restaurants and historic sites with a couple of blocks and parking on site. Amazing value for the price. Susana the hostess is very gracious and welcoming. Highly recommended location for your visit to Avila!
Everything about the hotel was excellent. Location was superb, right beside the cathedral within the walls of the old city.
The room was spacious, warm and clean.
Breakfast was very good.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Avila.
The hotel is very clean, the rooms and beds were comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly. The shopping area and bus stop are right across the street. The room was quiet, and had a small balcony.
10 minutes drive from Avila, the room looked amazing, feels like a luxury hotel and since it was off-season there were barely any people so it was quiet
Many power sockets too
We have stayed here many times on our way through Spain and love the space, peace and tranquility here - as well as being welcomed like old friends by the ‘boss’!
Great communication, cordial staff, and clean room and property. Had a wonderful dinner at Alcaravea Casa de Comidas which is right across from the hotel.
