The host was very friendly and very helpful. He greeted us, gave us a great place to store our bikes, and explained everything of how things worked. The bed was comfortable and clean. It was good to have a kitchen/seating area as a common area. The location was very central and the location was very quiet. We would definitely stay there again on our way through.
I love this off the track hotel but make no mistake, it is not far off the Camino and the less than km walk will be worth your while. the place is excellent! Granted, no stores nearby as it stands alone but after the hectic walk from Deba, this place is awesome. It is an older well maintained place with much character. My bed was so big! It was a warm night but they had fans. I really loved staying here and I recommend it. Breakfast was included and it was awesome! Fruit, fresh OJ, coffee, pastries and love!
The hotel was really nice. Not a standard hotel and lots of individual parts of the hotel with great character. The staff were very friendly and helpful. COVID situation meant that they needed to know exact time for dinner and breakfast - this worked well - food was nice. The location of the hotel was good being fairly close to Markina. I was walking the Camino, and if you are doing this be aware if walking from town there is a path off the road that takes you to the hotel (so you dont have to walk on road).
It is a nicely situated rural hotel which is not convenient to the town of Markina but in a tranquil location about 1.5 km outside accessed by a pretty park following a river.
It has a captive market of pilgrims travelling the Camino del Norte as there is a shortage of accommodation which is not Refugio or albergue in the region.
We have stayed before and enjoyed it.
The owner is very welcoming and into locally sourced produce and sustainability.
The food is also very good with mainly homemade cuisine.
Our best stay on the Camino Del Norte. Warm, kind, and friendly staff. We were quickly registered and escorted to our room. The shower was welcomed and we immediately returned to the dining room for amazing pizza and wine. The hotel is beautiful and unique in design. The food was fresh and we especially enjoyed our breakfast before our long walk. This is a must stay location for anyone in Extebarria.
We had trouble finding the hotel from the Camino, and were stressed and tired. When we finally arrived we were surprised by the warm greeting we received from Iger and the rest of the staff, including the wonderful bartender and woman originally from the U. S. (sorry, didn’t get their names).
We were so impressed with the rehab of the the foundry and it’s history.
It’s old world character and charm, as a centuries old building converted to a wonderful comfortable hotel. The conversion work was very sympathetic to the character of the original structure and very professionally finished.
The staff led by Anna were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The dinner was excellent as was the breakfast.
This hotel is definitely worth its money! It has a beautiful architecture, the rooms are cute and you immediately feel homey. The bathroom is clean and the shower is great, because it’s a rain forest shower :) It’s 5 minutes by car to the center and 20 minutes by foot. The staff is really friendly as well :)
The building is a beautifully restored stone former iron forge, filled with interesting objects, books, posters, etc. The rooms are lovely and the hotel was very quiet - beds comfortable. We also enjoyed dinner at the restaurant - the pizza seemed to be a big draw and the fish was excellent.
Lovely pension in a very nice setting, convenient for the people walking the Camino del Norte. There’s a shortcut from the Camino path, indicating Etxebarria that takes you directly to the Pension. The next day ypu can take a beautiful pedestrian path that takes you into Markina.
What a beautiful hotel! we paid a little more but it was well worth it for the beautiful room, comfy bed, jacuzzi in the bathroom, and outstanding food. So far, we had the best fish dish of any restaurant since we started the trip in Irun.
The charming hotel is located in a beautiful small village a short, beautiful drive away from the coast. The rooms are clean, organized with interesting architecture and the host was extremely friendly and helpful.
Outstanding views, homecookwd delicious food. We were on the camino, and this hotel is right on it .It's a very steep climb past deba, but you're further on the trail for the next day, so well worth it
Beautiful, historic building that has been converted into a hotel. Great restaurant on-site that also serves breakfast. A real treat if you're on the camino.
