With the Eusko train you can reach in 30 minutes some villages on the coast such as Mundaka and Bermeo, very beautiful places. You can buy the Barik card to travel at a very low price on all kind of public transport in Bizkaya.

Gernika is a busy lively town, but with a sad history.
Gernika is a busy lively town, but with a sad history. Visit the Museum of Peace, and find two important sculptures by Henry Moore and Eduardo Chillida and the ceramic copy of Picasso's 'Guernica'.

Guernica is a beautiful town with plazas, gardens, parks and places of interest. It was destroyed during the Spanish Civil War and reconstructed later. It has a rich history which can be accessed in its Peace Museum.

It's a very neat and clean hotel on walking distance of the vivid and buzzling city centre with all the pinxtos bars and restaurants. The rooms are not big, but big enough to stay comfortably one or two nights. Breakfast was nice, not overly luxury, but still with all kind of nice items, like local cheeses and meat. The hotel is not far from the camino, so it doesn't take much more kilometres to get there from the camino
My friend and I are walking a small portion of the Camino Santiago this week. We had a perfect stay at Hotel Gernika last night. The hotel is well located just a few blocks from the liveliest part of town. The gentleman who welcomed us couldn’t have been nicer. Our room was modern and clean. And the most unexpected part of our stay was the excellent breakfast. Highly recommend!
Well located on the outer edge of town, the Hotel Gernika is an affordable and pleasant place to stay. Our room was clean, comfortable and included all the amenities a visitor would appreciate. The staff was pleasant and informative. Continental breakfast offerings were very good.
Rooms very small but well designed. Good hot water, everything worked.
Best of all was clean, well-equiped, and light-filled common kitchen on top floor. Able to have a meal, talk to others when too tired and cold to eat out. It is really an asset for this hotel.
This is a gem of a hotel. Great price and excellent facilities. We stayed here on the night before walkng to Lezamo. Staff couldn't have been more helpful, room was lovely and comfortable, shower great and breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend.
New, stylish and very cosy hotel.
Super clean with a very comfortable bed and a modern bathroom.
And most importantly - the hosts (home run hotel) - Ani, her boyfriend, her sister and her nephew! They made my stay amazing! 🤩
Comfy bed, nice staff, spacious rooms, classic hotel. We were walking through the camino del norte and enjoyed the comfort right next to the center of Gernika. Late gin tonic in copa de balón at the bar was really nice.
Hotel Gernika was great! We stayed here for one night during a stop for the Camino de Santiago, which provided a great night sleep. Facilities are great and is located within walking distance of the peace museum.
The room was spacious, comfortable, and had air conditioning. The front desk was helpful with suggestions for dining. It was also quiet in the hotel. There was a small fridge, and a coffee maker for breakfast.
Beautiful hotel with classic features. Marble floors in common spaces, wood floors in the room, solid wood doors. The building is well constructed and beautiful. Very quiet. Helpful staff.
Nice hotel, that had a really "grand and traditional" feel. Friendly and helpful staff, good location for Camino and exploring the interesting town of Gernika. Good breakfast.
