It all started with merluza! After a wild, wintry snowy climb over the Cruz de Ferro with 5-8 cm of snow, a slippery descent into Molinaseca where snow gave way to rain, I arrived in Molinseca wet, cold and weary after 25km. Lunch! The best—the absolute best—merluza ever had in 14 Caminis de Santiago. And I have eaten many merluza lunches—-sublime! Gracias! And Raul—-welcoming, warm, gracious. His father is the chef. Superb! So I booked a room. Fantastic! A giant and very comfortable bed. A big room. Spotlessly clean. A hot and very powerful shower. A very, very happy peregrino. The breakfast was excellent. However, as I hadnt paid for it in advance, when I tried to pay on leaving, the staff seemed confused about how to handle. They were very easy to work with and I thoroughly enjoyed the stay.
