This is a "Festival-Town". They love Festivals and every 2-3 months they have some feasts :)
I could enjoy throughout the "Golden Week" on the 3-4th of May 2024 the Parade on the streets. It was really colorful and culturally interesting for a European. :)
The Old Town is a must see! :)

Fukuoka is an entry point to Kyushu with an international airport and a port. It has lots of attractions that can easily be reached by train and subway. Fukuoka has excellent dining, shopping, some great gardens, and if you are a student then visiting Daizumi shrine is a must. It is a shrine dedicated to the success of students in their studies.

Nice city.
Nice city. I'm a bit surprise that it's not overcrowded like another big cities in Japan that I've been to. Might not be the best place for shopping but it's about right to me. It's more local Japan to me. I see very few English signs. There are some nice attractions but I wouldn't plan a week long trip with just Fukuoka. There are other cities and attractions in Kyushu that should also be in the plan. You don't really need a car in Fukuoka. It's well covered by public transport but for Kyushu in general it'll help considerably if you like to drive though.
If I'd plan again, I wouldn't drive the whole trip outside Fukuoka. I rather drive in some areas and travel between big cities with train. It make more sense and can cover more areas and attractions.

Loved Fukuoka, it's an underrated city.
Loved Fukuoka, it's an underrated city. As long as you're not looking for a city like Kyoto with lots of traditional Japan, you'll find it to be a lively city with lots to do! The yatai's are a great way to experience food in Fukuoka!
We had the Japanese breakfast every day, it was excellent with traditional as well as local foods. The rooms were spacious and clean. We enjoyed the onsen as well as the outdoor pool filled with heated onsen water. The location was excellent close to Hakata station and numerous restaurants as well as lots of shopping. Would definitely stay here again if coming to Fukuoka. The staff were very helpful holding our luggage and later helping us with a taxi to the airport.
I find all APA hotels to be great value, no matter what city. It is a very quick walk to Hakata/ shinkansen and bus stations, many local food options too. Staff friendly and efficient.
All hotel rooms are small in Japan, and these are well laid out with luggage storage under the bed, hooks on the wall etc.
Just don't take too many bags/large suitacse and you should be fine.
the staff was friendly and the room was on a good size scale. staff was kind enough to put me on the 10th floor and with a view of the River. you can choose from three different type of breakfast 2 Japanese or a western breakfast plus the buffet . 10 mint walk to canal city mall and 15 minute to the train station. they have a shuttle to the airport as well.
Stayed here for 2 nights. A renovated hotel that looked trendy and modern. Location is excellent as the airport subway is just beside the hotel. Easy access to Hakata and Tenjin. Lots of eateries nearby as well. Walkable distance to street food by the river side. If you love to have a drink, the lounge is a good place to hang around
Very satisfied from beginning while booking, staff very active communication and make sure provide what i need when arrived. The room quite big enough for 3 with compact kitchen and bathroom. The bed also comfy, best balcony, great location near Hakata Station main road not hard to find. Will be back if visit Fukuoka
An affordable accomodation in Fukuoka. Hotel is located close to the metro station Ohori Park, 10 Min. to the Hakata Station. Nearby is a MaxValu supermarket with an ATM without banking fees. Hotel byself is quite old and used however the price is reasonably cheap. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful.
One of the best business hotel in Fukuoka with clean, comfortable and above average size rooms. Check in was fast and easy. Hotel staff are friendly and welcoming. It is conveniently located, a short walk from Hakata Station. Will definitely stay there again when we are in Fukuoka.
The hotel is centrally located next to the Hakata Station which is filled with many places to eat. The staff was very helpful, even though I could not speak to them in Japanese. It was an easy walk to the Folk Museum and the main temple of Fukuoka, which was nice.
Big, spacious room which is rare in Japan. Amenities were modern and of good quality. Staff were very courteous and make you feel welcomed. There are a lot of food options around the hotel - izakayas, motsunabe, ramen etc., and less busy than Tenjin/Hakata
Great Hotel. The room was spacious, clean and with a lot of light. The bed was big and comfortable. The staff was most helpful and Japanese breakfest was one of the best I eaten. Definitely recommend to stay, which I intead to do next time I am in Fukuoka.
Good location next to subway station, between Hakata Station and Airport.
Clean rooms, standard Japanese Size.
During our nearly three weeks we stayed in a few APA hotels and we can recommed the group.
I liked it.
The hotel locates at a prime position as it is close to airport and railway station (Hakata Ekimae). We can go the shopping centres and temples nearby on foot.
The room and bathroom is up to standard.
The location of hotel is next to Hakata bus station. It's convenient to reach the hotel by bus from Fukuoka Airport. The room is comfortable and clean. The hotel provides public onsen bath.
Location was close to Hakata station and Fukuoka international airport. Streets were quiet at night. Check-in and check-out were simple and fast. Room and bed were comfy.
Good access from Fukuoka airport via airport bus. Arrived directly opposite the hotel.
Good shopping and eateries in Hakata Station, also across the road.
Great location! Few minutes walk to Hakata Station. The room was huge and everything was clean! Overall, this is a highly recommended hotel in Fukuoka.
