A-top its lofty perch, Casa de San Martin is the perfect refuge for anyone wanting to relax with a good book, or take long and relaxing walks in the surrounding countryside. The house has a character and charm all of its own - a place where there is no need to hurry anything... Welcoming guests upon arrival at the entrance is a statuesque elm tree, affording shade from the morning sun. The beauty of the local stone is immediately apparent, shown off to greatest effect by discreet flood-lighting at night. Balconies and terraces provide an opportunity to sit and take in the ever-changing mountain scenery, particularly at night when shooting stars abound.

My name is David Robinson, British owner of Casa de San Martin. Since December 2000 when the building was completely restored, I have been running the house as a rural hotel.

The property of San Martin dates back over 1,000 years having once belonged to the Abbot of San Victorian, the oldest monastery in Spain. In the second half of the twentieth century, the property witnessed in haughty solitude the abandonment of the surroundoing valley due to expropriation for a hydro-electric project that was never to be. The walls of the house of San Martín bear silent witness, from their privileged watchtower, to the passage of time. The construction of the current stone building began at the end of the eighteenth century, and it has been recently restored with care in order to offer all the comforts of modern life in an elegant rustic environment. The property consists of 95 hectares and is surrounded by forests of pines and oaks. Casa de San Martin is for nature and for stillness. We do not own a television...
