Friendly Pueblo Blanco town that’s easy to move through on foot or in car. It’s a central location to so much in Andalucía within 2-3 hours in a car, so you can spend a day in busy hectic Seville or Cordoba and sleep in peaceful Antequera.

Very friendly town.
Very friendly town. Recommend a guided tour to include the dolmens - we booked a combination tour of walking the town, visiting a chapel and a short ride in a 'micro bus' to the dolmens.
Buy cakes and pastries from a convent. Spend an evening in Bar Lola next to Plaza Coso Viejo for excellent food, friendly service and great atmosphere.
Antequera is an easy 45-minute drive from Málaga airport, so it's a great place to spend a couple of nights before heading off to explore Andalucía. Lots of free parking.

Antequera is a pretty town with a big church and castle. Also, you can visit dolmens (in the town) and El Torcal hiking area (nearby, some 20km maybe). The town seemed cozy during workdays and quite busy on Saturday with many people cruising the streets.

Antequera is a beautiful place with loads of churches and elaborate buildings. I could have done with another day here at least. I also never got to sample the food so I will definitely need to come back.

A cosy town, not too small, not too large.
A cosy town, not too small, not too large. The megalithic burial tomb complex dating back to Neolithic- Bronze Age (Dolmen de Menga, Dolmen de Vieta) is within walking distance from city center. Our main reason to visit Antequera was to see these 5000-6000 years old burial tombs. We loved the city.

It’s a beautiful city! Very antiquated very medieval.
It’s a beautiful city! Very antiquated very medieval.
The downtown area was wonderful with many restaurants and shops and bars.
The castle and church on the hill were spectacular! The areas surrounding the city is unbelievably beautiful.
It was awesome of our host Veronica to meet us enroute to the house.Veronica was a fabulous host and gave us lots of great suggestions, and also left us a few taxi drivers cards, which was great as there is no Uber in Antequera. There is a little grocery tienda a few doors down, and two major grocery stores about a ten minute walk . We were happy to have a kitchen with oven, a dishwasher and olive oil and balsamic vinegar. There is so much to see in Antequera that you can walk to, and be sure to do the ammonite hike at El Torcal!
This is a lovely little hotel in a fabulous location! The rooms are basic but nice, very quiet and clean, with incredible views of the Alcazaba from the balcony looking on to the square. There is no option for breakfast at the hotel, but the bar beside the hotel does a good breakfast. Also there is a communal room with a microvave and a communal courtyard space for smoking. If you're looking for value for money and the perfect spot to stay a few days to explore Antequera, this is it! We will definitely come back here again!
Really great hotel. It’s the only luxury option in the town and it does it really well. Beautiful views over the valley and mountains and a really peaceful retreat from the town. Art work around the hotel is lovely, hotel kept immaculately. Super easy to get into Malaga for either a trip to town or for flights. - there’s a bus / coach that leaves early and is a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. Antiquera itself is one of my favourite towns in southern spain. Really beautiful old town.
Initially I was extremely disappointed by the overall look of the hotel, the reception area especially.
It has an air of some of the old hotels of Spain’s past with many authentic framed historic photos of street life in Antequera, and of El Torcal and the ancient dolmans, and many unique fixtures and fittings…which have the hotel its individual character. Many of these old Hostals have gone or been turned into “boutique” hotels, lacking in any individuality, so a refreshing change.
The hotel is next to a beautiful open square with chairs to enjoy being outside and people watching. You are two blocks from the tourist information office where a wonderful staff person gave us many suggestions and things to see and do. A few blocks away is a busy street with interesting shops and restaurants. The outdoor terraces at this hotel are spacious with comfortable chairs and good views. Our hotel room was smaller. The bed was great.
My partner and I have a good stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was a normal single room with a full-bed, they’re comfortable. It’s clean and warm. The bathroom was full-disinfected, clean, full toiletries provided. We came with our 2 dogs and there’s a green small garden behind that we can hang out. There’s hotel restaurant that we got good coffee and breakfast. Parking was good in all convenient.
Charming hotel a bit away from the town of Antequera but well worth the 30 min drive. Beautiful farmland around. Lovely area to be peaceful and quiet. But close to magnificent El Torcal for a day hike. Staff were all warm and extremely friendly and went out of their way to help us when we had car troubles. Breakfast was lovely and dinner was outstanding.
This family owned hotel has all the charms of it’s owners. Reminds me of a ryad we stayed in Marakesh. The owners are very nice and you must eat at their coccina. The food is amazing prepared by the mother as chef and her team. Off the beaten path but so worth it. Thank you.
Location is within walking distance of a wide selection of shops and restaurants. The hotel is good value for money and the staff were friendly and helpful. We needed a one - night stop over on our journey from Seville to Malaga and this was spot on.
the staff was very nice and helpful. the two I dealt with at reception had good English. my room was the inexpensive single. there was sufficient room and the bathroom was not cramped. WiFi worked well. hotel had a nice location in town central
Lovely traditional hotel. Great staff and good food and wine in the restaurant. Rooms were a good size and the bed was really comfortable. Easy parking at the hotel and only 5 minutes drive into Antequera.
Was near the highway, good for a quick stop (near El Torcal de Antequera)
Nice big room (we took the Deluxe suite) for only a few extra pounds
little fruit seller next to the hotel
The hotel staff were helpful and happy. The town is somewhere we will definitely visit again. Lovely place. Great little restaurants and super friendly people.
