The apartment was very clean, exactly as described. Good location close to sea, and 10 minute walk to main square. Lots of good places to eat and drink.
Loved El Médano, will definitely return

El Medano is a good sport for windsurfing, kiting and Wind foiling. Its is generally windy even during the winter months. The town is small enough to feel quite intimate and has a nice buzzing vibe. A great place to socialise after a day on the water. On less windy days there are options for biking, or generally keeping fit with running or walking.
We ate out for breakfast and dinner and sampled a variety of cafes and restaurants in the town, mainly close to the main square. We enjoyed the food at all of them. They're not fancy but the prices are very reasonable.

Plus point if you're on a short trip is that it's very near the airport (taxi approx €20 with tip). Small town with plenty of bars and restaurants, also good supermarkets if you're self catering. There are several beaches, and there are walking trails to the hills nearby (which you can see from the seafront). The centre of town and the main beach get quite busy, but if you prefer it quieter you can walk along the seafront to less busy areas - fewer bars and facilities, but some lovely beaches within 20 min walk. We were there early March - temperature was low to mid 20s, mostly sunny, some patchy cloud. If you're into sailboarding there are places to hire equipment & have lessons. It's a laid back place - no nightclubs and not rowdy. In summary, a good place to come to relax and enjoy the sea and sun. If you want clubs, loads of activities etc, probably somewhere else would suit you better.

This is not your normal kind of tourist resort, its more Spanish and has a lot of locals with families which we liked. Has a very good water sport facility, if you are into this. Not many sun loungers are available on the beach which we liked, made it more natural. We mainly used hotel pool which was good for us. Beach and town was kept clean, with lots of dogs around, we were impressed.
The nearby red mountain nature park area was very accessible and lovely to walk in, but you need good shoes.

Very nice town in the south of the island close to the airport. Everything is reached very nicely by car. The town offers a variety of really nice fish restaurants, supermarkets, bars, and even a few beaches in town or super close by. Perfect for a long or short stay - and even more perfect if you don't want to get a car, since it's super close to the airport (3 min drive) and has public transport.

We came here for for great windsurfing spot. Other than that it is a pretty boring place. Living is relatively inexpensive though. Public transportation is not bad, however there is no direct connection to anywhere. It is always necessary to change the bus at San Isidro.

El Medano is traditional Spanish beach village.
El Medano is traditional Spanish beach village. It is not a tourist hotspot and it has a very different feel to other areas of Tenerife. We enjoyed that aspect. There are still many restaurants and cafes to enjoy but not as many crowds.
We wanted a place to stay that wasn’t in a lively area of Tenerife and this was perfect! A great apartment with all you need in the apartment. Great views from both balconies of the sea and loved watching everyone doing the water sports .
Yes the planes fly over but you only have to look at where you are staying to know it’s near the airport and it didn’t bother us .
The host Claudia could not do enough to help , kept in contact to check we were happy. Would definitely choose this place again .
I liked the location of the property (so close to the beach!) and how well it was equipped with kitchen appliances. It also had some kitchen essentials such as salt, coffee, which always help during cooking and which you always forget to buy when going grocery shopping. The host Lorenzo is great to get hold off and replies speedily when you have any questions. I loved that I could ask him for recommendations and help to get around Tenerife, because it saved so much of my time doing research.
I really don't understand the bad reviews..
I had a couple of WONDERFUL days at Hotel Médano. My room (ocean view, 5th floor) was immaculate and very comfortable, the view was a dream, the bathroom was great, the breakfast buffet huge and I am 100% satisfied!
Ah, I even got a mini fridge delivered to my room as I asked if there was one available for the guests..
But I know that people LOVE complaining 😒
I would stay at Hotel Médano again FOR SURE and I will!
Transfers 15 mins from the airport 15 euro each way
Free transfers to the supermarket and back
25 mins walk into El Medano down the hill towards the beach
Great kitchen facilities, washing area /iron/iron board
Nice swimming pool area /roof terrace
Clean dorms , comfortable beds with light and charging area, hot showers, nice outside seating area of your dorm
Great for just a few days chilling by the pool.good value for the money
This hostel was just a very short walk from the beach in El Medano, right in the heart of the restaurants and cafes, so not far from anything. The mattress was foam and comfortable. The set up for shower + toilet in a stall was convenient. Generally the place was very clean and had a nice little rooftop area with a sliver of a view on the sea. The staff was very helpful and accommodating with late arrival.
Perfect view of Red Mountain and we loved the sunset view of the water. Afternoon sun on the balcony was perfect for a relaxing beverage! Everything was very close - beach, restaurants, groceries, walking trails. Very relaxing two weeks. We spent the first week without a car. that was enough time to fully explore El Medano and the trails there. Second week with a car let us explore more of Tenerife.
A beatiful two bedroom appartment right on the ocean shore, the beach is just across the street. Spacious and well decorated, has a big terrace (bigger than in the photos) with beatuful ocean view, you will be enjoy terrific sunrises here. The location is few hundred meters from El Medano centre, which gives you perfect calm spot, away from evening noises.
Location, location, location! Want to surf in El Medano, but stay in a hotel? This is the most optimal location at the border of kitesurfing and windsurfing beaches. Lockers available for storage of materials and room to hang wetsuites as well as rinse boards and other materials.
Rooms are brand new and staff is superfriendly.
Amazing room !great value for money :)the hostess was so lovely ,friendly and helpful!everything was clean and tidy !the pool view is great and the decor so modern:)
Will be going again soon!Easy to reach from the airport South Tenerife by bus 415 to San Isidro and then 408 to the room!
Fantastic location, excellently equipped and beautifully clean. El Medano is very special, it remains a traditional Spanish town. It’s not a purpose built resort aimed solely at tourism. This apartment has all the qualities of a traditional Spanish home with hotel standard facilities.
The hotel has a very good location ! And it's bigger than anything else in El Medano! Close to the beach and with an amazing ocean view! Very well decorated! Warm oceanic water in the swimming pool! The room was clean enough! Breakfast like breakfast 🥞) we've never been starving )
Everything. The staff were SO kind and full of personality, the food had good variety and very tasty, and the room, pool deck, restaurant, and hotel were clean and tidy. Literally the best hotel for the windsurfing views and La Montana Roja view too.
We choose this apartment for our annual cycling session in Tenerife.
Nice place to stay, very close to the city center !
We appreciated the calm and the modernity of the apartment
Perfect to stay a week and discover the famous Teide
The location is perfect, just on the beach La Tejita. I had easily my walks almost every morning and evening on the beach! Supermarket and bars are walking distance! Beautiful and peaceful camping on the beach in Tenerife! I loved it!
Great location in downtown El Medano. Free Breakfast. Homemade bread, tea, hard boiled eggs, cheese, fruit, coffee. Affordable tours offered. Friendly helpful staff. Plenty of common seating, cool music, spacious common kitchen.
Everything was perfect. It was the cleanest apartment we've been to Tenerife. 1 minute on foot to the beach, shops and bus stop nearby. Excellent location and very cosy place to live. We will definitely come back
Very good hotel and staff, the location was amazing, you could hear the waves on the shore and it was no longer than a few 100 meters from a great surf and windsurf location.
Our visit to Tenerife was not for vacation - so I only wanted somewhere basic & cheap in the general area. Amancer Cabezo Beach was indeed basic & cheap.
