A lovely little apartment in Espinama, just off the main road. Check-in was in the Hotel (blue building) and parking provided down the narrow lane and around the back of the red building/apartments. Lovely and quiet. A few options for eating out. But such a wonderful location. Espinama and most particularly the Picos de Europa - one of the most beautiful places I've seen in Spain. And Spain is obviously abundant with amazing places! :-)

First time visit to Picos de Europa - which we knew for a long time - give us a very pleasant encounter with a thru mountain type of landscape and scenery. It is very accessible, thanks to its heights and (obviously) with the cable car lifting you to 1800m in a few minutes :-). Though, the weather wasn't that good when we were there - end of april 2024 - with some light snow and quite foggy. You should prepare and dress accordingly, it's still a mountain environment - and be ready to change your plans. Staying at the Parador de Fuente Dé is a good place to start discovering the Picos de Europa.

This hamlet is about 90 mins from the autoroute up some quite challenging but superb mountainous roads. Beware the 3 or 4 roadworks. The hotel is located right next to the cable car which takes just a few minutes' vertiginous ride to the 1800 metre summit. The weather was good and there was no wind. A busy restaurant and hotel at the top. Great views too. A good stop for hikers, bikers and off-roaders; none of which apply to me.

incredible location an outdoor enthusiast utopia its the second ever national park created after Yosemite the cable car trip for the Children was so memorable with great walk down to the cable car cafe
The location is top - the hotel being surrounded by (some of) the Picos de Europa. We liked very much the concept and style of the parador, which gives you a real mountain experience. We were very much pleased with the good sound insulation of (at least) our room, which gave us a good restful sleep. We enjoyed both the breakfast and restaurant (lunch and dinner have the same menu). We appreciated the friendly and efficient service.
We had a wonderful two days here. The road from Salamanca through the almost untouched forest fascinated us. I was a little worried about the hotel, how well equipped it would be, as it is an old building, an outside location, but we had a sumptuous breakfast and a generous dinner, the beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean, and the laundry service was a big help for me in the middle of a European tour.
Location was beautiful. There is nothing in the town other than this hotel and the Parador across the street. The setting is beautiful right across from a view of the mountains. The real attraction is the funicular that goes up the mountain. Spectacular views and if you are a hiker, plenty to do. The nearest larger town is about a 20 minute drive.
Location of the hotel was good as it is just next to the funicular that takes us to almost top of the mountain. The room is spacious and clean and comfortable. Food in the restaurant, especially the dinner, was exceptionally good. I love the lamb (roast lamb? I forgot) which was the best among the food in my 29-day travel in Spain.
Spectacular location beyond words. Beautiful property and great rooms. lots of natural light. horses and cows grazing in backyard. Everything isn’t brand-spanking new, but it adds to the rustic charm. Clean. Nice places to walk and activities (cable car) nearby. Dinner at the restaurant was phenomenal.
The back drop to the hotel is outstanding. The location is very well placed for hikes and trips around the Picos de Europa. The common areas of the hotel are well presented and the rooms and bathrooms were far larger than expected. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
This is a stunning area and a beautiful hotel right at the bottom of the mountains. They had good food in the cafeteria, but you need to make a reservation. Room was big and comfortable with AC! They have some areas around to walk. Parking was easy and close.
The fireplace in the lounge that warmed the whole hotel, where we could relax by the fire and were served wine and local cheeses and prosciutto, and the kindness of the proprietor and her delightful children. And of course the fantastic view of the Peaks.
fantastic location (right next to the Fuente Dé Cable Car), spacious rooms with storage space galore, great bathroom (separate toilet with bidet, shower over tub), good wifi, safe, fridge, TV, quiet, ample parking;
The hotel is well located if you want to hike up to the Picos de Europa. The views are amazing and breathtaking. Also, it is next to a very cute little town called Potes😊
