Hôtel Vallée Blanche, hotel in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc

This family-run hotel is located in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, on the banks of the Arve River. This 18th-century building features a pub with live music and a large terrace.

I like that my spacious room was really clean and fresh when I checked in. The crisp white towels and amenities in a well sanitized bathroom are always a plus. The view from my room and the gushing sound from the river outside made my stay more relaxing. The breakfast at 12 euros was well worth it compared to outside since it made me really full for the rest of the day. The location is perfect since it's just a few steps away from the city center and just a good 6-minute walk from the bus station. Wifi worked well, and Alex at the Front Desk was really kind, gleeful, and helpful.

The month of May is not a good time to visit.

The month of May is not a good time to visit. The snow has gone but summer is not here yet. In this twilight zone between winter and summer it is just one of many tourist towns that is instantly forgettable. We regret we didn’t stay just across the border in Martigny which has so much culture that is completely lacking in Chamonix. The only visitors to this town seemed to be bucket-price tour groups from the far east.

I am slightly disabled in that my mobility is restricted by arthritis. Chamonix is a beautiful town in itself but it can be difficult to get around at night.I wanted to check out the live music scene but had real difficulty with transport.Although it is free,or cheap all day it is nearly impossible to get a taxi (unless I have been calling the wrong numbers!).I was told by some locals that they are tied up doing airport runs, how true this is I don't know. I think if you have similar problems then book a long time ahead or online.Otherwise the place is brilliant you have breathtaking views of the high mountains above, alpine meadows and a town that wants for nothing. It is easy to visit Les houches Argentiere and all the beautiful ski areas, even if you can't ski there are mountain railways and cable cars. Expensive but well with it. It is becoming my second home now.

A many time visitor, easy to get about on buses or train and some of the best off-piste there is anywhere. Looking forward to the re-opening of the top cable car so the biggest / best runs will be accessible once again. CMD make sure you don't go down the road Vial and Alterra have taken (selling season passes and driving up day tickets to drive sales of these products and thus maxing out their profits) - On vous voyons!!

Skiing in Chamonix is extreemly snow dependant.

Skiing in Chamonix is extreemly snow dependant. Should you be lucky enough to have several days of powder, each of the individual resourts are more than large enough with loads of off-piste opportunites to ski. However, as this is a season with limitid snow conditions, each individual resourt becomes too small, with too many people on the piste, as there is too litle snow in the terrain. As such, I would much rather recommend the surronding resorts such as Courmayeur or Verbier for a weeks stay, as you then get away from the dayly transport with busses etc. The need to tranfere between the different resorts to ski by buss is also a negative aspect, as it is pure madness with everyone trying to get on the first bus that comes. I would definitely not recommend Chamonix for families based on this, as younger children would strugle with the stampede.... As a town Chamonix has a lot to offer, with good shops and resturants, but as a ski destination, I will probably not return, but head off to larger interconnected resorts.

Highly recommended modern and comfortable apartment in Chamonix. Recently refurbished, it has everything you could ask for and is finished to a very high standard. Location is very convenient, right beside the bus station, about three minutes from the Telepherique Aiguille du Midi and 10 minutes from the centre. Restaurants and bars are fine minutes away. The Plan B hotel across the street (30 seconds) also has pool and bowling that is open to non-guests when you are looking for something to do. Go for it!

I liked the chocolate croissants. My biggest challenge was only eating one!! There were other items I failed to try because the croissants with chocolate were so superior I just ate them every day. Also, this hotel has a lot of history. I enjoyed hearing the story of the hotel and reading the pamphlet. I also liked getting to know the history of the hotel from the current owner. This hotel has been in his family a long time. I like that there is a long term story of culture associated with this hotel!

The hotel is located in the centre of Chamonix: couple of minutes to the local shops/bars/restaurants and 5 minutes walk to the bus stop. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a buffet, the highlights being sliced sourdough bread, banana bread and very nicely prepared scrambled eggs. The ski room allocates the skis/boots to your room number with a padlock if you want one. My bedroom had a great balcony with an amazing view of the Mont Blanc range.

This property suited us perfectly. A small but old ski lodge, very clean with double bed, kitchen and lounge. It was so close to teh centre of Chamonix, the train station and bus station. All this with a View of Mont Blanc out window. We loved it. We from Australia are hiking in France and Italy, and while it was not a five star modern hotel, it was five star with facilities and convenience. Our Host Elana gave us perfect directions to get there.

The hotel was so cosy and has so many areas to relax that can’t be described or seen in a photo. The breakfast area, with such a great buffet and that view, almost made us not want to leave the hotel and see beautiful chamonix. Not to mention that we arrived tired at night and fell asleep and when we woke up in the morning I almost had a heart attack seeing the view from my window. We all fell in love with the hotel.

Loved that the hotel communicated with us various times before arriving and provided us helpful information, they recommended where to hire our ski equipment and also arranged 2 private ski lessons for us. The hotel itself had a homely feel, we had a lovely big one bedroom apartment with the most breathtaking view! Breakfast was nice and location ideal, just a 5 minute walk into the centre of Chamonix.

Lovely hotel with an excellent gin bar and beautiful views from the garden/terrace area. We were in a cheaper room so didn't have a lot of room, but it was tastefully decorated and had great storage options - the cupboards/wardrobes are very cleverly designed. Awesome downstairs decor and shared space for meeting people or chilling out / working.

The hotel is clean, beautiful, and has a lot of space. I went to the spa, it's nice and modern. The staff of the hotel were friendly and smiling. The hotel has a motive of books; they have shelves of books in the rooms and in the lobby, which give some character to the hotel (I haven't found something I like in English, though).
